Reading
An Exceptional Learning Experience
Reading novels with an in-depth study and analysis, focuses students on a deeper, more meaningful understanding of literature.
Students study several forms of figurative language, character study, point-of-view, and comprehension strategies. Daily guided reading allows for me work with students closely in small groups. This gives me the opportunity to work with each student on specific skills.
Language Arts
Recipe for Success
Language Arts is grammar, spelling, punctuation. Students work on applying language skills to their writing. Learning language skills in isolation does not mean the student will transfer those skills when they write. As skills are learned, students will be accountable to use skills in their writing. During the editing and revising of a written piece, we will work on spotting common grammatical and language errors.

Writing
An Exceptional Learning Experience
4th grade brings many writing opportunities. The writing process is long and sometimes painful for students who struggle to write. This year students write the following; narrative, informational, and opinion.
These types of writing are modeled by showing students what a piece should and should not look like. Writing is edited and revised several times before publishing. Students often think once it is written, it is done. Not so!!! This is where frustration sets in and students give up. Students learn that writing is never done....its fluid and can always be improved upon.
